Three Years of Research. A Much Bigger Story Than Food.

At The Fruit Box Group, we’re proud to support our charity The One Box, using our national supply chain and delivery network to help provide consistent access to fresh food for families experiencing hardship across Australia.

The release of The One Box’s 2025 Impact Report, From Fresh Food Comes Lasting Change, marks the conclusion of a three-year longitudinal study conducted independently by Monash Business School’s Department of Accounting.

Across three years of research, more than 130 interviews with families and School Program Coordinators, alongside survey data, have helped build a deeper understanding of what can happen when fresh food support is delivered consistently, with dignity and through trusted school communities.

Three Years of Research into the Impact of The One Box

The numbers measure the impact. The lived experiences show what that impact can mean for families, beyond fresh fruit and vegetables.

Among the findings highlighted in the 2025 Impact Report:

  • 54% of parents reported improvements in their children’s social and emotional skills
  • 29% reported improvements in overall school wellbeing
  • 22% reported improved confidence at school
  • 38% of families surveyed were connected to or tracked through referral pathways

The research also highlights the role of consistent support in reducing financial pressure, strengthening community connections and helping create trusted pathways to broader services and opportunities.

Using Our Network to Support Australian Families

The One Box model is made possible through a unique partnership between business and community.

Fresh produce sourced from Australian growers is packed and delivered using The Fruit Box Group’s national network – leveraging infrastructure, logistics and supply chains already in place to help fresh food reach families consistently and efficiently.

In 2025, The One Box supported approximately 2,500 families through 134+ school and social enterprise community partners across Australia, delivering approximately 114,000 boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables.

For us, it’s a powerful demonstration of how existing business capability can be used to create meaningful community impact.

What begins with a box of fresh food can become something much more: greater stability, stronger connections, trusted support and, for some families, pathways towards greater independence.
